POSITION Tradesperson 1 - Mechanic

EMPLOYMENT STATUS Full Time
OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
To perform and complete all task assignments safely, using correct work methods and safety precautions to the required quality standard, completing tasks on time and effectively using the resources given for each task, then execute all planned and unplanned tasks and release the equipment safely to the mining operation team.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure that work is conducted in safe working practice and procedure.
- Conduct inspections on equipment to identify damage or defects, document findings in the register, and submit to the Supervisor for further action.
- Execute all assigned mining equipment maintenance tasks following approved work procedures.
- Ensure all tasks are performed safely according to GGM Safety Standards procedures.
- Repair equipment and report completion of tasks to the Supervisor.
- Maintain good housekeeping at all times.
- Report any unsafe equipment to the Supervisor immediately.
- Ensure work is performed to OEM standards and that quality of work increases over time after equipment is released to production.
- Plan work before execution.
- Carry out work as required or directed.
- Meet work delivery deadlines to minimize resource demand without exceeding the required completion date.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Form Four Secondary Education with VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One or Trade Test Level Three in Mechanic.
- Diploma or Full Technician Certificate in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
- Must possess a valid Tanzania Driving License.
- No criminal record.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years working experience as a Mechanic in the maintenance of Norment Machines, CAT777D, 777E, 785C, and 785D trucks, Caterpillar machines, RH 40 and 170, and CAT640 excavators.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and maintenance work on Norment and CAT equipment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Must be able to read and understand manual maintenance books.
- Possess interpersonal skills to get the job done on time without compromising safety and quality.
- Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental issues.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills in Swahili and English.
- Demonstrate a good commitment to deliver.
- Must be able to work under minimum supervision.
- Ability to act when assigned.
- Organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Committing full capability to work assigned by the supervisor.
- Advising the supervisor of any situation or condition that could create obstacles to, or opportunities for, the work of the managerial team or company.
- Demonstrating work behaviors consistent with company values, policies and prescribed legal requirements.
- Team player who can also work independently.
- Mandated to stop unsafe work.
