Job Summary:
The Class One Teacher is the primary facilitator for the foundational year of formal education. The teacher is responsible for delivering a balanced curriculum (Literacy, Numeracy, and Basic Skills) to a class of young learners, ensuring they transition smoothly into primary education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Core Subjects: Teach Kiswahili, English (Basic Reading/Writing), and Mathematics (Number Work).
- Literacy: Develop phonemic awareness, letter recognition (Alphabets), and early reading skills.
- Numeracy: Teach number recognition, counting, simple addition/subtraction, and shapes.
- Social/Emotional Development: Assist students in adapting to the school environment, rules, and routines.
- Creativity: Incorporate art, music, and play into daily activities.
- Health & Hygiene: Monitor students' well-being and teach basic hygiene practices.
- Parent Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
- Record Keeping: Maintain an organized record of attendance, academic progress, and incidents.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Primary) or Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECDE).
- Minimum 1-2 years experience teaching Class One or similar early grade levels.
- Patience, creativity, and a high level of energy.
- Fluency in both Kiswahili and English is mandatory.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position based in Kigamboni, Kibada, Uvumba Street.
- Working hours are typically Monday to Friday.
- Must be willing to participate in school events and professional development sessions.
