ASSISTANT NURSING OFFICER

Job Purpose
The Assistant Nursing Officer will provide safe, compassionate, and patient-centred nursing care under the supervision of senior nursing staff, while supporting the delivery of efficient and high-quality nursing services at Ilasi Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients according to established standards and hospital procedures.
- Assess patients and report relevant findings to the responsible nursing or medical officer.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments within the scope of professional practice.
- Monitor and document patients' vital signs and progress.
- Assist doctors and senior nurses during clinical procedures.
- Provide basic health education and counselling to patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, patient records, and other required documentation.
- Assist with admission, transfer, discharge, and referral of patients.
- Observe and promote infection prevention and control practices.
- Ensure proper use, care, and availability of nursing equipment and supplies.
- Participate in ward rounds, handovers, and other nursing activities.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and seek assistance when necessary.
- Promote patient dignity, privacy, safety, and confidentiality.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, laboratory staff, medical attendants, and other hospital personnel.
- Perform other duties assigned by the senior nursing officer or hospital management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Holder of a recognized nursing qualification appropriate for the position.
- Must be registered and licensed by the relevant nursing and midwifery regulatory authority in Tanzania.
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting will be an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of nursing procedures, patient care, infection prevention, and professional ethics.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
