Job Purpose
The Dentist will provide comprehensive oral and dental healthcare services, including examination, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and patient education, while promoting good oral health and maintaining high professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive dental examinations and assess patients' oral health.
- Diagnose dental and oral health conditions.
- Provide appropriate dental treatment within the scope of practice and available services.
- Perform routine dental procedures and minor oral surgical procedures where appropriately trained and authorized.
- Manage dental emergencies and provide appropriate initial care.
- Request and interpret relevant dental investigations, including radiographs where available.
- Provide preventive dental care and oral health education.
- Counsel patients on proper oral hygiene, diet, and preventive practices.
- Maintain accurate and confidential dental records.
- Develop appropriate treatment plans and explain them clearly to patients.
- Refer patients requiring specialized dental or medical care to appropriate facilities.
- Maintain proper infection prevention and sterilization standards.
- Ensure appropriate care and maintenance of dental equipment.
- Participate in health promotion and community oral health activities where required.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Health Center management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Holder of a recognized degree or professional qualification in Dentistry.
- Must be registered with the relevant dental professional regulatory authority in Tanzania.
- Must hold a valid practicing licence.
- Relevant clinical experience will be an added advantage.
- Good clinical, communication, and patient counselling skills.
