The role involves conducting compliance reviews, managing risks, training employees, engaging with regulatory stakeholders and responding to compliance incidents.

Key responsibilities

Establish compliance systems

  • Accurately understand applicable local laws, regulations, policies and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with business units to develop compliance management plans.
  • Integrate external compliance requirements into business processes.
  • Formulate, improve and support the IT implementation of compliance control plans for business processes.

Conduct compliance reviews

  • Review contracts, agreements, business plans and other internal and external documents for the representative office or subsidiary.
  • Read and assess entire documents to identify clauses related to compliance.
  • Provide professional compliance opinions and recommendations.

Develop a compliance culture

  • Communicate with external government institutions, law firms, industry associations and key clients.
  • Improve employees’ compliance awareness through training and enablement.
  • Develop a strong third-party compliance culture.
  • Help create a positive organizational compliance environment.

Manage compliance incidents

  • Manage and respond to compliance incidents.
  • Coordinate responses to external regulatory inspections and enforcement actions.

Operate the compliance management system

  • Assist the Compliance Officer in establishing, improving and operating the subsidiary’s compliance management mechanisms, including:
  • Compliance objectives
  • Business risk management
  • Crisis drills
  • Inspections
  • Reward and punishment systems
  • Compliance culture
  • Knowledge management

Qualifications and experience

Applicants must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.
  • At least five years of experience in the compliance and legal industry.
  • Basic legal knowledge relevant to compliance.
  • Knowledge of the fundamental principles and methods of compliance management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Project management capabilities.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Good knowledge of English.
  • Basic Chinese writing skills.
