Job Description
Responsible for day to day financial activities of the organization. Ensure accurate recording and reporting of the Bank's transactions, proper budget control, monitoring efficiency and effectiveness in the payment process.
Main Responsibilities:
- Control financial resources and ensure that all financial transactions, systems and procedures comply with regulations, accounting principles, and standards.
- Responsible for financial analysis and reporting, taxation, insurance, credit control, accounts payable and receivable, inventory and cost control.
- Advise the management on financial matters and the impact of laws and regulations on the organization.
- Work with Finance Analysts and Managers to develop budgets, understand financial reports, and manage day to day review of General ledgers (GLs).
- Review and monitoring of Cost centers budget and ensure monthly reports are shared with cost center owners and arrange meetings with Cost Center owners to discuss variances noted in their report and instill cost conscious culture.
- Ensure timely payment of vendors' invoices and staff claims as per agreed TAT and ensure records are safely kept for easy reference and audit trail.
- Ensure timely resolution of queries and complaints from stakeholders as per the agreed TAT including GL access management and requests for refunds/reversals.
- Close follow up on receivables accounts (Intercompany, government and others) to clear outstanding items from Suspense GLs to avoid provision for loss.
- Work closely with Finance Analysts to ensure that they understand finance processes/procedures and deliver in the context of their roles in relation to the department's objectives.
- Work closely with Managers in monitoring Finance Risk register to ensure the controls are effective.
- Work closely with Managers to ensure compliance with Finance processes/ procedures / policies.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of financial control and management.
- Technical - Financial management, Financial Accounting; computer literacy (MS Excel, Power Point, ERP, BI and Flexcube system).
- Behavioural - Information Monitoring, Decision Making, Communication, Customer Focus, Facilitating Change, Managing Work.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business studies, Accountancy, Finance or related fields.
- Professional qualification Certificate in Accounting (CPA/ACCA or its equivalent) will be an added advantage.
- Master's degree in Business studies is an added advantage.
- Banking certification(s) is an added advantage.
- At least 3 years' experience in Finance and Accounting.
