About the Role
Perseus Mining (Tanzania) Limited is seeking a Gold Room Supervisor to support processing operations at the Nyanzaga Mine Site.
The Gold Room Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and secure handling of precious metals and will report to the Gold Room Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety, Environment and Community Relations
- Adhere to company policies and procedures relating to health, safety, environment, and community relations.
- Champion a zero-harm safety culture across processing operations.
- Ensure processing facilities and practices comply with environmental obligations and permit conditions.
- Participate in incident investigations related to processing operations and ensure lessons learned are converted into corrective actions.
- Ensure all gold room activities comply with applicable safety and environmental requirements.
Leadership and People Management
- Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to the gold room team.
- Develop team capability through structured training, mentoring, and performance management.
- Promote technical development and knowledge transfer within the team.
- Foster a high-performance culture based on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure workforce planning meets operational requirements, including succession planning and skills development.
- Promote positive employee relations and compliance with workplace policies, codes of conduct, and industrial relations frameworks.
- Communicate goals, expectations, and performance outcomes clearly to employees.
- Promote process optimization and continuous improvement within the metallurgical team.
- Collaborate with other departments while maintaining focus on processing priorities.
- Train and transfer knowledge in line with the department training matrix.
Operations
- Ensure metallurgical data is properly interpreted and translated into actionable improvements on the plant floor.
- Monitor key metallurgical KPIs and implement corrective actions when performance deviates from plan.
- Support commissioning, ramp-up, and optimization activities to achieve stable and efficient operations.
- Organize smelting and bullion pickup schedules.
- Report gold room logs and operational data to the metallurgical department.
- Assist in developing security procedures.
- Drive the overall processing strategy in alignment with business objectives and production targets.
- Maintain accurate records of gold and silver bullion inventory at all times.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of refinery information, including schedules, activities, equipment layouts, building layouts, precious metal information, and passwords.
- Monitor gold room reagent and consumable stock levels to ensure operational requirements are consistently met.
- Perform plant and equipment isolations in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure gold room equipment is operated, calibrated, and maintained according to scheduled requirements.
- Initiate gold room projects aimed at improving gold and silver recovery, increasing equipment reliability, or reducing costs.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Attributes
Essential
- Knowledge of bullion production, including smelting and electrowinning.
- Proven experience in metallurgical leadership within a gold processing operation.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of trust when handling precious metals.
- Strong understanding of processing plant operations and metallurgical performance drivers affecting recovery, throughput, quality, and cost.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and knowledge of HSE systems and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive operational improvements.
- Effective people leadership skills, including coaching, workforce development, and performance management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear and timely metallurgical reports.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Processing, Maintenance, Technical Services, and site leadership teams.
- Strong alignment with Perseus values, including accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Licences
- Form VI education level, diploma, or technical qualification in Metallurgy, Minerals Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong practical and technical foundation in mineral processing and metallurgical plant operations gained through progressive work experience.
- Strong understanding of gold room operations and equipment.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in metallurgical or mineral processing roles, preferably within gold processing operations.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a gold room supervision role .
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to undertake external training to complement operational requirements.
- Willingness to work outside normal working hours when required.
- Willingness to travel on company business when required.
About Nyanzaga Gold Project
Nyanzaga Gold Project is Perseus Mining's first planned operation in Tanzania and is located in the Lake Victoria Goldfields.
A Final Investment Decision was made in April 2025, with first gold production targeted for early 2027.
The project places strong emphasis on sustainability and local development, including employment, skills training, infrastructure, and long-term social development programs.
Once operational, Nyanzaga is expected to become an important contributor to Perseus Mining's future growth and a flagship project in East Africa.
