Job Description
To provide strategic leadership and direction to the Retail Banking teams in developing, managing and enhancing customer segment propositions and product offerings. The role is responsible for driving product innovation, coordinating product promotions, and identifying growth opportunities through robust customer and product profitability analysis, competitor benchmarking, market intelligence and customer insights. The position aims to strengthen the Bank's market positioning, enhance customer value, drive product adoption and deliver sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Development
- Lead the development, review and enhancement of Retail Banking products and customer segment propositions in line with the Bank's business strategy and growth objectives
- Identify opportunities for product innovation and improvement based on customer needs, market trends, competitor offerings and emerging business opportunities
- Develop product strategies and roadmaps to strengthen the Bank's competitive positioning and customer value proposition
- Ensure product features, pricing and delivery channels remain relevant, competitive and aligned with customer expectations
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective design, approval, launch and implementation of new or enhanced products
Product Performance and Profitability
- Monitor and analyse product performance, customer profitability, revenue contribution and portfolio growth to identify opportunities for improvement
- Drive initiatives to improve product profitability, usage, customer acquisition, retention and cross-selling
- Develop and monitor key product performance indicators, ensuring alignment with approved business targets
- Recommend appropriate product pricing, features and strategic adjustments based on profitability analysis and market conditions
- Prepare regular product performance reports and provide actionable recommendations to Management
Market Intelligence and Competitive Analysis
- Conduct regular market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, market gaps and opportunities for growth
- Assess competitor products, pricing structures, promotions and value propositions to inform product strategy and positioning
- Translate market intelligence and customer insights into practical product development and business growth initiatives
- Maintain an understanding of the evolving Retail Banking landscape, customer expectations and relevant regulatory developments
Product Marketing and Promotions
- Lead the planning and coordination of product campaigns, promotions and customer acquisition initiatives in collaboration with Marketing, Sales and other relevant teams
- Develop strategies to improve product awareness, customer engagement, adoption and utilisation across target segments
- Monitor the effectiveness of product promotions and campaigns, assessing their contribution to customer acquisition, revenue growth and profitability
- Support Retail Banking teams with product knowledge, value propositions and commercial insights to strengthen sales effectiveness
Stakeholder Management and Business Collaboration
- Work closely with Retail Banking, Sales, Marketing, Digital Banking, Operations, Finance, Risk, Compliance and other relevant functions to drive product development and performance
- Provide strategic product guidance and support to business teams in identifying opportunities and translating them into actionable growth initiatives
- Coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure timely product delivery, effective implementation and resolution of product-related issues
- Build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support product innovation and market expansion
Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure product development, pricing, marketing and management activities comply with the Bank's policies, regulatory requirements and applicable risk management standards
- Work with Risk, Compliance, Legal and other relevant functions to assess product risks and ensure appropriate controls are incorporated throughout the product lifecycle
- Monitor product-related risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures to protect the Bank's interests and customers
- Promote responsible product design, transparent customer communication and adherence to customer protection standards
Leadership and Team Development
- Provide leadership, direction and coaching to the Product team, promoting accountability, collaboration and high performance
- Establish clear team objectives and performance measures aligned with the Bank's strategic priorities
- Build product management capabilities through continuous learning, knowledge sharing and exposure to market developments
- Foster a culture of innovation, customer-centricity, commercial awareness and continuous improvement
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Economics, Marketing or a related field
- A relevant postgraduate qualification or professional certification in banking, product management, marketing or business management will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience in banking, preferably in Retail Banking, Product Management, Product Development, Proposition Management or a related commercial function
- Demonstrated experience in product strategy, product development, profitability analysis, market research and product performance management
- Proven ability to translate customer insights and market intelligence into commercially viable product solutions
- Experience in managing cross-functional initiatives and leading teams is essential
- Strong understanding of Retail Banking products, customer segments, competitive dynamics and the regulatory environment
