Job Description

Role purpose:

To lead Lake Region business performance and strategic execution across the Lake Zone by translating priorities into profitable growth, superior customer experience, digital and financial inclusion, market leadership and operational excellence.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership: 

  • Own regional P&L delivery, including revenue, margin, market share, subscriber growth and disciplined CAPEX and OPEX management.
  • Translate enterprise strategy into integrated regional plans across Consumer, M-Pesa, Enterprise and Technology, with clear execution priorities and performance interventions.
  • Drive customer growth and loyalty through sales and distribution excellence, digital adoption, financial inclusion, service quality and stronger regional network performance.
  • Act as Vodacom Tanzania’s senior regional representative, building trusted relationships with government, regulators, businesses, partners and communities.
  • Lead a high-performing, inclusive regional organisation and ensure effective governance, risk management, safety, compliance and cross-functional collaboration.    Core competencies, knowledge and experience: 
  • Commercial and strategic leadership with strong P&L accountability.
  • Deep knowledge of telecommunications, digital services, financial services, sales and distribution, and the Tanzania market dynamics.
  • Customer obsession, data-led decision-making and strong execution discipline.
  • Proven stakeholder influence, change leadership and matrix management capability.
  • Ability to lead diverse, cross functional and geographically dispersed teams and build future-ready capability.

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

  • Recognised bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, economics, engineering, marketing, telecommunications, finance or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ progressive leadership experience, including at least 5 years in multi-functional commercial or operational leadership.
  • Postgraduate business or technical qualification is advantageous.

Key performance indicators: 

  • Regional revenue, margin and market share performance against agreed plan.
  • Customer growth, NPS, digital and M-Pesa adoption, and network experience within the region.
  • CAPEX/OPEX efficiency, employee engagement and compliance with governance, risk and safety requirements.
