Responsible For: Insurance Premium Finance Product

Working Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be required depending on workload.

Job Purpose

The Assistant Manager – Insurance Premium Finance will oversee the entire premium financing process by developing and implementing strategies to optimize premium finance sales and operations.

The role involves setting targets for loan volumes, revenue, and profitability while driving the strategic direction of the premium finance business. The position will also be responsible for managing risks, identifying growth opportunities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth and Strategy

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the insurance premium finance business.
  • Expand the client base and increase loan volumes and revenue.
  • Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets to drive growth and profitability.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Drive the strategic direction of the premium finance business.

Team Leadership and Performance Management

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the team responsible for insurance premium finance.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for team members.
  • Monitor team performance against established targets.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and training to support team development and performance.

Client and Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, insurance carriers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders.
  • Address client inquiries, concerns, and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to add value to client relationships and improve the overall customer experience.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to share information, address issues, and coordinate activities.

Operations Management

  • Ensure efficient and effective operation of premium finance processes and systems.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.
  • Enhance the quality of service delivery.
  • Implement best practices and standards to optimize performance and achieve operational excellence.

Risk and Compliance

  • Assess and manage risks associated with premium financing activities, including credit risk, market risk, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure premium finance operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Implement policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

Reporting

  • Prepare regular reports and provide updates on the performance of the premium finance business to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor business performance, loan volumes, revenue, and profitability.
  • Communicate relevant business information and issues to stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

  • At least 5 years of work experience in the credit or insurance industry, with a key focus on operations, underwriting, and claims.
  • Excellent knowledge of credit and insurance products and processes.
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to drive business performance and revenue growth.
  • Good interpersonal and management skills.
  • Good understanding of customer segmentation and customer needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of distribution channel strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in: Insurance, Banking, Risk Management, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business Administration, A related field from a recognized institution
  • Minimum certificate in Insurance/CoP.
  • Professional insurance qualifications are required as specified in the advert.
  • ACII qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Sworn declaration of good character and solvency.
  • Attested declaration of solvency and non-conviction of criminal offences.
