1. Regulator liaison, engagement and compliance

  • Act as single point of contact for any communication (queries, complaints, compliance)
  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual reports to TIRA as per compliance checklist and deadline to avoid fine
  • Prepare quarterly update highlighting positive developments, submitted alongside quarterly reports
  • Prepare and submit broker license application that meets all requirements
  • Update TIRA portal as required
  • Ensure that all communications sent to and received from TIRA are duplicated and stamped by TIRA to confirm receipt and filed in writing in our records
  • Remain updated on all changes in the requirements of the PO
  • Ensure The company is updated at all time about any changes in regulation (e.g. micro-finance Act, BoT) or any regulator’s requirements. Monitor key regulations such as general insurance, broker, micro-insurance acts.
  • Attend TIRA events
  • Keep updated on TIRA strategies and plans (e.g. Education strategy) and how The company can engage and participate
  • Build relationships with TIRA staff, incl. account manager, marketing director, director market dev & research, director surveillance and prudential, PA of Commissioner and Commissioner
  • Assist senior management team with preparing presentations and meetings, including regular performance updates
  • Assist with WP and Residence permit applications for foreign staff
  • Submit TIBA and IIT membership payments for annual registration
  • Engage with other stakeholders as per agreed with CM and contribute to update Tanzania stakeholder map
  • Including engagement with other relevant regulators (TCRA, BoT)
  • Manage an annual calendar with key relevant events for our client to attend or contribute to (e.g.: insurance day)
  • Support CM with any official communication translation (e.g. press release)
  • Meet with micro-insurance coordinator
  • Assist with product approval process as required
  • Preparation of TIRA audits
  • Monthly premium remittance with underwriters by 2nd week of the month
  • Submission and follow up on insurance claims by The company

2. Marketing

Assist with some of the marketing activities, including:

  • Organise BTL events (roadshows, claims events, field engagements with agents)
  • Event planning and implementation, coordinating closely with sales team
  • Procure and print marketing material. Manage material so that no material is lost or damaged and can be re-used for each event
  • Daily media review of social media/online (Google alerts) and print newspaper:
  • Any customer noise related to our products or our partners
  • Any developments in public health insurance (NHIF, CHF)
  • Competitors activities and new micro-insurance/mobile money product launches
  • Any event/news on insurance in general
  • Support marketing agency with management of The company’s Facebook page

3. Hospital network

  • Assist with launching partnership pilots

4. Reporting

  • Weekly team meeting presentation

5. Escalation

  • Immediately escalate to CM any compliance or reputation risks

THE CANDIDATE

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Insurance

Expertise and Experience

  • 2 years of experience in insurance

  • Optimist and self-driven
  • Irreproachable professional integrity
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and management skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel

Language

  • Written and Spoken English
  • Swahili

The purpose of the Principal Officer is to deliver excellent regulator liaison, engagement and compliance, as well as to some extent support some marketing and Hospital network activities
