REPSSI (Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative) is the leading African psychosocial support organization. REPSSI’s vision is that all girls, boys and youth enjoy psychosocial and mental wellbeing. REPSSI has strong partnerships with governments (particularly the ministries responsible for social services, education and health), development partners, international organizations and NGOs in thirteen countries of East and Southern Africa.

REPSSI seeks to appoint an experienced  Deputy Chief of Operations  who will be responsible for and serve as primary coordinator for all aspects of project finance, administration, compliance, and sub-award management for a large-scale USG funded project.  This position is contingent upon funding.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level leadership for all finance and administrative aspects of the project, including establishing clear procedures and policies for efficient operations.
  • Responsible for subgrant management and compliance with USG grant rules and regulations. You will support all partners to acquire capacity in financial management

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A full certified chartered accountant with CPA/ACCA and an undergraduate degree in accounting. An MBA in finance will be an added advantage.
  • 10 years of senior-level experience in the management of large-scale, complex, USG funded projects.
  • Experience in financial planning and management, procurement, and operations management and developing and managing large budgets and sub-awards.
  • Must have headed a financial management team, and able to manage HR for operational efficiency.
  • Knowledge of relevant procurement regulations and local market conditions.
  • Familiarity with Pastel. Navision, or similar or financial management software highly preferred.

Additional skills

  • Ability to represent the organisation at high levels.
  • Proficient in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), Web Conferencing Applications, and information and budget management systems.

This is a 4-year contract position subject to availability of donor funding and good performance. Remuneration will be commensurate with skills and experience. REPSSI is committed to the principles of employment equity.
