JOB DETAILS:
TPC Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified, competent and experienced individuals to fill three positions within its operations in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect and assess whole beef and sheep carcasses to ensure they meet required quality, freshness and food safety standards.
- Break down whole beef and sheep carcasses into standard commercial cuts using appropriate butchery techniques and equipment.
- Perform deboning, trimming, portioning and preparation of different meat cuts according to operational requirements.
- Prepare, package, label and store meat products appropriately to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
- Ensure proper handling, storage and preservation of meat products in accordance with food hygiene and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work surfaces, cutting tools, machinery, storage facilities and processing areas.
- Monitor meat stock levels, minimize wastage and ensure efficient utilization of carcasses and meat products.
- Inspect meat products for quality defects, spoilage or contamination and report any concerns to management.
- Operate and maintain butchery equipment, including knives, meat saws, grinders and other processing tools, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain accurate records of meat processing activities, stock usage and product preparation.
- Follow occupational health and safety procedures when handling sharp tools, heavy carcasses and meat processing equipment.
Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Meat Processing, Food Production or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in butchery or meat processing.
- Proven ability to break down whole beef and sheep carcasses.
- Knowledge of meat cuts, trimming techniques, hygiene and food safety.
- Ability to communicate in English and handle physically demanding work.
