Assistant Accountant

Simplepay Capital Financial Services Tanzania Ltd is a growing financial institution committed to improving lives through innovative, accessible, and reliable financial services.

The organization is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven professional to join its team as an Assistant Accountant and support day-to-day financial and accounting operations.

What we’re looking for

The successful candidate should have:

• Strong practical experience in accounting or financial services operations.
• Ability to maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely financial reporting.
• Good experience in account reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
• Ability to prepare payments, vouchers, journals, and supporting accounting documents.
• Ability to assist with loan accounting, savings, and portfolio reporting.
• Good understanding of internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and applicable financial reporting standards.
• Good knowledge of relevant statutory returns, including:
  • Value Added Tax (VAT)
  • Pay As You Earn (PAYE)
  • Withholding Tax (WHT)
  • Skills and Development Levy (SDL)
  • National Social Security Fund (NSSF)
• Ability to prepare financial statements.

Experience requirements

Candidates must have:

• A minimum of three years of practical working experience in accounting or financial services operations.
• Hands-on experience in day-to-day accounting and financial management within a professional environment.
• Previous experience working in a microfinance institution or similar financial services environment will be an added advantage.

Accounting software requirements

• Proficiency in using accounting software is required.
• Experience with Odoo Accounting Software will be an added advantage.

Education requirements

The minimum qualification is:

• A Certificate or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

A Bachelor’s Degree or another higher qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field will be an added advantage but is not mandatory.
